The Pale-headed Rosella is a medium-sized, broad-tailed parrot, with a light-coloured head and all white, or blue and white cheek patches. The underbelly is mainly blue, with red under the tail, while its back is yellow with dark flecks.

This parrot likes to feed on fruits, flowers and insects in the shade, and will often build a nest in the hollow of a eucalypt tree.

Interesting Fact

The Pale-headed Rosella is very similar to the Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius), which has a bright red (rather than yellow) head. The two species are often found together and may hybridise (breed together), blending their characteristics.
