Also called paddle weed or spoon grass, Dugong Grass is a small seagrass that grows in sandy or muddy parts of the ocean.

Its oval leaves form underwater meadows that help keep the sea floor stable and provide homes for small sea creatures. Most importantly, it’s a favourite food of dugongs!

Interesting Fact

Dugong Grass can grow into big underwater meadows, a bit like lawns in the ocean and dugongs can eat up to 40 kilograms of seagrasses in just one day!
